Zia Taqueria and Ska Brewing: A Durango Power Combo
Some Durango combos just work. Mountains and snow. Rivers and fly rods. Zia Taqueria and Ska Brewing.
Zia Taqueria
Zia is Durango's fast-casual Mexican joint with an honestly-earned reputation. Burritos, tacos, quesadillas, bowls — everything made fresh, generous portions. The green chile is the star. Get it on everything.
Two locations in town. Lines form at peak hours but move fast. What makes Zia special is the consistency — every time you go, it's good, fast, and affordable.
Ska Brewing
Ska has been brewing in Durango since 1995. Their Girard Street taproom has the full lineup on tap — many you can't get anywhere else. Modus Hoperandi IPA is the flagship. True Blonde Ale is perfect post-hike.
The taproom vibe is casual and welcoming — food trucks outside, dogs on the patio. It feels like hanging out in someone's really cool garage, except the beer is professional-grade.
The Power Combo
Grab dinner at Zia, then walk to Ska for a couple pints. Or reverse it. Either way, you're spending maybe $25 total. Try doing that in Aspen.
Our townhome Timberline is right across from Purgatory — three bedrooms, a hot tub, a fireplace, and a free shuttle to the lift.
