Does Purgatory Have Night Skiing? Your Evening Options

Short answer: Purgatory doesn't currently offer night skiing. The lifts shut down in the late afternoon. But that doesn't mean your evening is empty — far from it.

At the Resort

The base area sometimes hosts events, live music, or bonfires depending on the weekend and season. Check Purgatory's events calendar for the current schedule. Even without formal programming, watching the sunset paint the mountains pink from the base area is pretty great.

At Your Rental

This is where staying in a townhome with a hot tub pays off. After a full day of skiing, soaking in hot water under the stars while the temperature drops into the single digits is one of life's great luxuries. Our properties have hot tubs on the deck — it's the best après experience there is.

In Durango

The 25-minute drive to downtown Durango opens up all the evening options. Steamworks Brewing for dinner and beers. The Ore House for a proper steak dinner. East by Southwest for sushi and cocktails. Ska Brewing for a casual taproom hang.

Durango has a legitimate bar scene too — nothing crazy, but enough options to have a fun night out. The Strater Hotel's Diamond Belle Saloon is a Durango institution worth visiting for the ambiance alone.

Trimble Hot Springs

A nighttime soak at Trimble Hot Springs (10 minutes north of Durango) is another option. Soaking in natural hot springs on a cold winter night is deeply relaxing and a great way to recover from a day on the slopes.

Our townhome Timberline is right across from Purgatory — three bedrooms, a hot tub, a fireplace, and a free shuttle to the lift.
