Hot Springs Near Durango: Soaking After the Trail

Trimble Hot Springs
Trimble is the closest option, located about 10 minutes north of Durango on US-550 — right on the way to Purgatory. The facility has several pools at different temperatures, ranging from warm to hot. The setting is relaxed, with views of the surrounding hills.
Trimble is a good default choice — easy to get to, no reservations typically needed, and open year-round. An evening soak after a ski day at Purgatory is a perfect way to end the day.
Ouray Hot Springs Pool
Ouray is about 90 minutes north of Durango via the Million Dollar Highway, but the drive is worth it — especially if you're already planning a day trip. The Ouray Hot Springs Pool is a large municipal pool fed by natural hot springs, with several sections at different temperatures.
The setting in Ouray is dramatic — the town sits in a box canyon surrounded by 13,000-foot peaks. Soaking in hot water while looking up at snowy mountains is hard to beat.
Tips
Bring a towel and flip-flops. Bring water to stay hydrated (hot springs plus altitude can dehydrate you quickly). Evening soaks are often less crowded than weekends during the day.
