Spring break at Purgatory is a different animal than spring break at the big-name Colorado resorts. No velvet ropes, no $40 parking lots, and no lift lines that make you question your life choices.

Why Purgatory for Spring Break?

Lift tickets, lodging, and dining are significantly cheaper than Vail, Aspen, or Breckenridge. And the skiing is excellent — 1,600 acres, 100+ runs, and terrain for every level. Spring break (mid-March to early April) hits the spring skiing sweet spot with warmer temps, sunny days, and soft snow.

A Sample Family Day

Morning: Hit the mountain early. Groomers are firm and fast before 10 AM. Purgatory's ski school has small class sizes and patient instructors.

Lunch: Base area options or pack your own and eat on the deck. Sunshine + PB&J + mountain views = happy kids.

Afternoon: A few more runs, then hot tub time.

Evening: Drive 25 minutes into Durango. Zia Taqueria is kid-friendly and fast. Serious Texas BBQ is a hit with little ones too.

Beyond the Slopes

Take the kids snowshoeing, visit the Durango Discovery Museum, or explore downtown Durango. The train depot is fun to see even when the Durango & Silverton Railroad isn't running its full schedule.

Both of our Purgatory townhomes — Basecamp and Timberline — are right across from the resort with hot tubs, EV chargers, and free shuttle access.
