Labor Day 2025 in Durango marks the unofficial end of summer — but what a way to go out. The weather is ideal, the river is still raftable, and the town is savoring every last warm day.

The Weekend

Rafting is still on. The Animas flows are lower and warmer than peak season, making for a mellow but enjoyable float. Book a half-day trip or rent a tube for the in-town section.

Hiking is at peak season. Trails are dry, the temps are perfect (70s during the day, 40s at night), and the aspens at higher elevations might already be showing their first gold.

The Durango & Silverton Railroad runs through Labor Day weekend. A holiday ride through the Animas Canyon is a great way to cap the summer.

Dining

Downtown Durango is still hopping. Steamworks, the Ore House, and Zia Taqueria are all in full swing. The Saturday farmers market is still going. Brewery patios are still the move.

The Transition

Labor Day weekend is the hinge between summer and fall. After this weekend, the town quiets down, the trails get emptier, and the aspens take center stage. It's a beautiful time to be here.

Our townhome Basecamp sleeps eight, has a hot tub and pool table, and is right across from the resort with a free shuttle to the lift.
