The Fourth of July in Durango 2025 is shaping up to be another great one. The parade, the fireworks, and the all-day celebration make it one of the best times to visit.

The Main Events

The parade rolls down Main Avenue in the morning — fire trucks, local floats, marching groups, and enough candy thrown to the crowd to give every kid a sugar rush. Line up early for a good spot.

Fireworks light up the sky over the mountains in the evening. Find a spot along the Animas River or on higher ground for the best views. The mountain backdrop turns a standard fireworks show into something cinematic.

How to Spend the Day

Between parade and fireworks, you've got options. Hike in the morning (Animas Mountain for a quick workout). Float the river in the afternoon. Book the Durango & Silverton Railroad well in advance for a special holiday ride. Hit Steamworks or Ska Brewing for cold beer and good food.

Tips for 2025

Book lodging now — Fourth of July week is one of Durango's busiest. Restaurant reservations are strongly recommended for dinner. Be prepared for afternoon thunderstorms (common in July). Parking downtown will be challenging during the parade — walk or ride a bike if possible.

Our townhome Basecamp sleeps eight, has a hot tub and pool table, and is right across from the resort with a free shuttle to the lift.
