Best Coffee Shops in Durango for Remote Workers
Working remotely from a mountain town is the dream, and Durango has the coffee shop infrastructure to support it. Here are the spots where you can set up, get connected, and actually be productive while surrounded by mountains.
The Top Spots
11th Street Station is a community hub with solid coffee, good wifi, and plenty of seating. It's spacious enough that you won't feel guilty camping out for a few hours. The vibe is relaxed and local.
Durango Joe's has multiple locations around town. Consistent coffee, reliable wifi, and a mix of grab-and-go and sit-down seating. The drive-through is convenient for mornings when you need caffeine before the laptop opens.
Animas Chocolate & Coffee Company serves great coffee with the bonus of excellent chocolate. The seating is more limited, so it's better for a focused hour or two rather than an all-day camp.
Tips for Remote Working
Mornings tend to have fewer crowds and the best seating availability. Most coffee shops have solid wifi, but a phone hotspot is good backup. Bring headphones — the ambient noise ranges from pleasant to distracting depending on the day.
The Lifestyle
The real perk of working remotely in Durango is the bookend activities. Morning meeting, then ski Purgatory over lunch. Afternoon work session at a coffee shop, then hike Animas Mountain at sunset. It's a lifestyle that's hard to replicate.
Our townhome Basecamp sleeps eight, has a hot tub and pool table, and is right across from the resort with a free shuttle to the lift.
